Les Cinq Amandes

Let's talk about fancy, yet simple gifts.  I was sent some samples from Les Cinq Amandes to check out their custom gift collection.  And from even first opening the box I was amazed.  These little treasures are beautiful.  I had no idea how pretty they would be when I first took them out of the box.  It was a great surprise!

Aren't they beautiful!

These are the custom baguette of  Chocolate Dragées.  They are colored beautifully and surprisingly delicious with its sugarcoating on the outside and chocolate on the inside. They have many color choices.  So your design possibilities are endless.

This a is small box of a Renaissance sample.  It has a combination of Almond Monde Petite Pistachio Dragées, and Meringue.   They are all taste great and are beautifully made.

And finally the caramel.  Its so good and chewy.  Caramel is one of my favorite things in the whole world and this stuff is good.  I mean really good.  If I didn't have any self control I would've downed the whole little bag of it.  Yum!

The Les Cinq Amandes would be great for any kind of occasion that you wanted little favors for, like weddings, bridal or baby showers, birthdays.  Or even just as a little gift.

Speaking of gifts.  Les Cinq Amandes ( ) is giving my readers a gift!

Check them out and use code HOLIDAY10 for a 10% discount on your order.  That's a pretty nice gift.  You can send one my way!

This is a post sponsored by Les Cinq Amandes.  I was given free samples in order to review.

What's for Dinner?- Chicken and Chorizo Soup (in the slow cooker)

I don't know if you know this... but it has been super cold outside the last few days.  Brrrrr...  And when it gets cold it soup time.  My favorite kind of soup to make is Chicken and Chorizo soup.  To me this soup is somewhere between a soup, a chili and a stew depending on how I make it.

I first found this recipe on and it was pretty good.  I don't think I've ever made it exactly as it says because I like to mix things up a bit.  But here is how I like to make my soup.

Chicken and Chorizo Soup (in the slow cooker)
1 chopped onion
1 lb chorizo (we used deer chorizo)
1-2 lbs chicken (depends how much I want to use)
1-2 Tbsp Worcestershire
galic salt to taste
chili powder to taste
cumin to taste
(I use quite a bit of the seasonings.  I like my food to have some flavor)
minced garlic
2 cans diced tomatoes
2 cans corn
1 can black beans, rinsed (optional, I only add this sometimes)
2-3 cups of water or chicken broth (depending on how soupy you want it.)
1/2-1 cup of milk or cream (depending on how creamy you want it)
sour cream and shredded cheese to serve with.

I chopped up my onion.  I love onions.  They bring such goodness and flavor to other foods!

Throw the chorizo and onions in a pan and cook together until the chorizo is brown and the onions are soft. I added a pinch of salt while sauteing.  Drain.

Add chicken to the crock pot.  As you can see mine was still very much frozen.  It went in fine and tasted great when it cooked.

Add on the garlic salt and garlic and seasonings.

Add in corn, tomatoes, beans, chorizo, water/ broth (I typically use water with bullion cubes) and milk.  Cook of low for 8 hours or more.  Shred your chicken and stir.

I almost forgot to get a picture of the soup!  This isn't the best picture.  This is Michael's bowl and it was halfway gone.  Oops.  Top with sour cream and shredded cheese and enjoy.  We usually have cheese quesadillas on the side.  Yum!

I had friends over to share in our soup and this batch fed 5 adults, 5 kids and a baby with a little left over.  It makes a ton.  It also makes great leftovers.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 150

You can read Psalm 150 here.

Praise the Lord.  Everything, praise the Lord with sounds and music.  Everything that has breath praise him!

Let's be honest here...

I'm am so happy that this is the last chapter and that I will not have to dive into psalms again for a long time.  I really had a hope that by the end of reading them again I would fall in love with them.  That just didn't happen.  I can see where the psalms are beautiful but they do not penetrate my heart like they do others.  I guess I just won't ever get along with psalms.  That's ok.  I will still read them but I am happy to move on to something different.  Michael and I will need to figure out what book to do next.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 147

You can read Psalm 147 here.

He praise God for all that he has done.  He loves those who fear and love him.

Anya 9 Months

Time just keeps flying on by, doesn't it?

I just can't believe that Anya is 9 months old.  She had her check up yesterday and the doctor said she is looking great.

Anya's stats:

weighs 18 lbs 8 oz
26 inches long

She is doing awesome.  She is a crawler and gets into everything.  The same day she started crawling was the same day she started pulling herself up on stuff.  She just always seems to be moving right now.

She loves, loves, loves food.  Neither of the other two ever have eaten as well as Anya does.  She enjoys her food but really wants mine.  Whatever I'm eating, she wants... even if its the same thing that she is eating.  Which it usually is.

And now we are waiting for her first Christmas!  It's super exciting.  Which will be quickly followed by Sidda's 8th birthday!  What!?!  Sidda's going to be 8?  I know.  I can hardly believe it myself.  Time just keeps going....

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 145

This is going to be quick.  Today is my birthday and we've been very busy.

We should remember God and tell everyone what he has done.  He is amazing and does good for those who love him.
