You can read Psalm 83 here.

God, why are you not destroying those who are against you?  Show them your power and show them your strength!  They are numbering up against you; let them know you are the Most High God!

What's for Dinner?- Pork Chops, Baked Potato and Salad

I used this Marinated Baked Pork Chops recipe from allrecipes.com.

The only thing I did differently was I added a couple teaspoons of minced garlic to the marinade.  It was awesome!  Michael liked it and the kids ate it without a fight.  I will be making it again.  It was delicious.

Ingredients

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a small bowl, thoroughly blend soy sauce, vegetable oil, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, and ketchup.
  3. Place pork chops in a medium baking dish, and spread with 1/2 the sauce.
  4. Bake pork chops 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Turn, and spread with remaining sauce. Continue baking 30 minutes, or until internal temperature of the chops has reached 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 81 and 82

You can read Psalm 81 here and 82 here.

So what happens when you are supposed to do your Bible reading and devotion but have a massive headache?  You just don't get around to doing it.  The truth is I did read it but just couldn't bring myself to get up and type about it.  Even though my thoughts on it weren't very much.

Psalm 81-

God wants us to be obedient.  Super simple to understand but hard to put to practice.  Stinking free will...

Psalm 82-

God reigns over us.  But we are to be his workers and help those he asks us to.  We help where it is needed.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 78

You can read Psalm 78 here.

It is important to share the word of God with everyone but especially our children.  If we do not tell them about the things he has done, how will they know?  It are to tell the next generation about God.  He is not something to be ashamed of or hidden.  We are to tell the whole world.  Where is the best place to start?  With our family.  With those who are closest to us.  God will not be forgotten by my family.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 76

You can read Psalm 76 here.

God is great and awesome!  He should be feared and praised because of his greatness.

Book Review: Pretty Little Liars

I just finished reading Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard.  I started watching the TV show about a year ago after I discovered it on Netflix so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try reading the books that started it all.

It was a quick read and was somewhat entertaining.  But I honestly prefer the show.  The story seems much more intense on the small screen than as I read through the pages.   I don't think I would have ever picked this up if it hadn't been for the show.

My advice would be to skip the book and watch it all unfold on Netflix.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 75

You can read Psalm 75 here.

So today I am at the half way point through Psalms.  Man, I am feeling burnt out.  I have consistently read daily but I'm just not feeling myself connect to the psalms at all.  But I will press on.  I am committed to these 150 days.  I pray that I will get more as I keep going.

So now on to today's Psalm.

God is the judge.  Not me.  I need to remember this and remind myself of it daily.  I am no ones judge.  I will instead spend my time praising the Lord for his greatness.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 74

You can read Psalm 74 here.

God has left us.  We have broken so many of his commands and have lost sight of him that he has rejected us.  God is the one who created everything and he chose us to be his people.  Please God let us praise you!

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 73

You can read Psalm 73 here.

How many times do you see people not doing the right things, not making good choices and still prospering?  How frustrating is it to know that you are doing everything right but are still struggling?

There are times that I have to check where my heart is when I feel myself getting jealous of what others have that I do not.  It's a reminder to me that I know that this life is temporary.  Stuff is temporary.  I know where my treasure is and it's not here.  I know that my focus should be on God.  There is no need to be jealous of others when I have God.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 69

You can read Psalm 69 here.

I am sinking.  There are more against me than I can count and I am without help.  I can't even see God right now.  I pray that people don't turn from God because of me.  I am asking God to help me, to give me favor in his eyes.  I will give him praise and thank him.  That is better than any sacrifice.

Book Review: Reached

Reached is the third installment of the Matched series by Ally Condie.  And let me tell you something.... I loved it!

There are not too many series that are out there that you kind of like the first book but absolutely love the third.  Usually it's the other way around.

We follow the lives of Cassia, Xander and Ky.  They have now joined the Rising and are in their assigned places waiting to take down Society.  Cassia is sorting in Central, Xander is a medic in Camas and Ky is training as a pilot.  Each has their part to play and each is is waiting for instructions on what to do next.

The Rising seems to have finally gotten it's chance to show their strength when the Plague attacks.  No one in Society is safe.  But the Rising has the cure and is willing to share.  They began administering the cure but soon find that there is a mutation of the Plague that they do not have a cure for.  The Rising is about to fall.

Xander, Cassia and Ky each have their roll to play.

This story flowed well.  I enjoyed every single page.  I read all day long and it was so worth it.  I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good solid story.

Read my review of Crossed.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 64

You can read Psalm 64 here.

David's enemies are at it again.  They are coming after him.  They want to take him down.  But David knows that he has God on his side.  God sides with the righteous.

Confessions of my Living Room

Sometimes I feel like there is no keeping up with the chores around the house.  It's like stuff is just taking over the house and we can't seem to get it together.  Honestly, right now, my living room is a little out of hand.  I could make lots and lots of excuses.  Which I will do....  hey, I have three kids and I home school and do a lot of things that keeps me busy.  I have a 6 month old who only wants me to hold her.  All.  The.  Time.  I almost never have her out of my arms.  And she has especially grumpy this week.  Oh, she has her happy moments but right now she just wants me to hold her and let her grab my face.

This is my laundry pile that is taking up all the space on our love seat.  At least the clothes are clean, right?  This is probably the worst of it.  This is 3 days of laundry and I hate doing laundry.  So I am grateful that it is clean and wearable even if it's not hung up or folded right now.

Oh, there is Anya in a moment that she let me put her down.  She is playing with her toys.  It didn't last long.

There is Anna with one of her toys and a few scattered random items around the carpet.

MJ can't help but bring out all of his toys and play.  Does he put them away when he is done?  Nope.  At some point I will trip over these.

Dog toys, baby toys, school supplies and books.  It's just a little craziness that goes on around here.

Midnight thinks that Anya should share her toys with him as he lays on her play mat.

Game cabinet and school table.  The cabinet needs some organization.  Right now the doors do not shut.  And we have some items from the school day left on the table.

The school shelf really isn't too bad.  One shelf needs a bit of a face lift but the rest is ok.

It's the back of the laundry couch!  Our sofa table is the cleanest in the whole room.  Put the diapers away and the book away and we are done.

I know that it's not too bad.  But this is how we are living today.  By tomorrow it will all probably be back to normal.  A little more clean.  A little more organized.  And laundry will be taken care of.  Maybe writing this post will be my motivation to get it done today.... if the baby will nap.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 59

You can read Psalm 59 here.

David sure does have a theme, doesn't he?  He has enemies.  They do not like him.  They want to kill him.  David cries out to God.  He knows that God is his strength and where he puts his trust.  It seems to be the same thing over and over and over again.  So again I will say, poor David.

Anya 6 Months

Wow!  How fast does time fly?

Anya is six months old!  Can you believe it?  SIX MONTHS!  She is half way to having her first cake!

She just had her check up.  Anya now:

weighs 15lbs 1oz
is 25 inches long

She can sit up and roll over from back to belly.  She loves to babble and make noise!

Anya loves food!  She eats rice cereal everyday and snacks on puffs.  She has tried many different foods, green beans, corn, carrots, potato, apples, bananas and pears.  But her favorite thing to eat is whatever is on my plate!  She is so silly.

Feasting on a tomato

She loves seeing that baby on the phone

Cuddles

Playing with her big sister

Doctor time!

She wants to eat the paper

Cousins

It's the girls!

You can read Psalm 57 here.

Poor David.  Poor, poor David.  Though he was great life was never easy for him.  He was always being pursued, always running.  Poor guy.  But his praise to God never faltered. He remained faithful to God.  He knew where to turn and who he could trust.

150 Days of Psalms: Psalm 56

You can read Psalm 56 here.

There are so many times in life when I've needed help.  I don't always ask for help when I need it.  Why?  I don't know.  But I've learned that I should, no matter what is going on, trust in God.  When I feel like that world is against me I will trust in God.  When things just aren't going my way I will trust in God.  When I am on my knees and desperate for peace I will trust in God.  I know he will bring me out of whatever weighs me down.
