Bad Day Blessings

Yesterday I had a terrible headache.  It was probably closer to a migraine than a headache but I had an appointment to check up on our new little one so I forced myself to get up, pick up Michael from work and make the drive from Henderson to Summerlin to make it there on time.

So we got there and sat down in the waiting room where we waited for 30 minutes before being called back for the appointment.  And then we sat in the exam room for another hour and a half.  All with this terrible head pounding that was just making me want to go to bed.  Eventually a nurse came in and informed us that my doctor was called out to go deliver a baby at the hospital (which luckily is in the same parking lot as his office).  She said that the baby was almost out and he would be right back.  So we waited.  We couldn't leave and reschedule because well, I didn't want to have to make another drive across town if I didn't have to.  And so we waited.... And finally he came in.  Yay!  Finally!  Let's get this show on the road!
He told us that since we were only 12 weeks along he was going to wheel in the little ultrasound because sometimes he has a hard time catching the heartbeat with the doppler.  So in comes the machine, he puts the gel on my belly and sets the wand on me, and the picture of my baby comes on the screen.  It's clear and you can see the head, the arms and the legs and this baby is dancing.  It wiggled and kicked and moved.  Moved so much that we still had a hard time getting to hear the heartbeat, but you could see it beating away inside that little dancing body.

That moment that I got to see my new little one completely blessed my day.  Even through the migraine and two hours of waiting I got to see that tiny baby move inside of me, dancing all around before I can even begin to think about being able to feel it too.  It was a great ending to a frustrating beginning, and I will now always be able to picture that moment and it will bring a smile to my face.  I am so thankful that God gave me that moment.
